Israel Knesset to discuss 'homeland' bill

Israel's parliament (Knesset) is set to debate a bill that defines Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people, which has been criticized by some of the lawmakers as “racist.”

If approved, the bill would identify Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people, make Hebrew its official language and give Arabic a "special status." Currently, both Hebrew and Arabic are official languages in Israel.
