US Court clears way for torture suit against Rumsfeld
A federal appeals court has cleared the way for a civil suit against former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld by two Americans who allege they were tortured while being held by the US military in Iraq.
The three-judge panel upheld a ruling by a lower court judge who denied a Justice Department motion to drop the suit brought by Donald Vance and Nathan Ertell against Rumsfeld in 2006.
Vance and Ertell allege in the suit that they reported to the FBI that they suspected the privately owned Iraqi security company they worked for, Shield Group Security, was paying off an Iraqi sheikh to obtain government contracts.
But when the security company began to suspect their loyalty, they were taken into custody by the US military and held incommunicado at Camp Cropper where they were subjected to violence, sleep deprivation and extremes of light and sound.
They were released without charges -- Ertell after six weeks and Vance after three months.
London Suffers Third Night Of Violence As Riots Spread
London has suffered a third consecutive night of widespread violence and looting, while similar scenes in Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol have resulted in dozens of arrests.
Groups of youths attacked shops and started fires in Peckham, Croydon, Lewisham and Hackney and several other areas, while emergency services struggled to cope.
There were incidents of looting and violence on Woolwich High Street, where a police car was said to have been burned. Ealing was also targeted, with cars attacked and a Tesco shop plundered. It was reported that looters in Ealing attempted to break in to a Bang & Olufsen shop. Camden also saw running battles between police and rioters throughout the early hours.
The acting head of the Metropolitan Police urged the public to clear London's streets and called for parents to keep their children at home, even as the atmosphere on London's streets became increasingly volatile.

“Bin Laden” Heroes Probably Murdered to Keep Them Quiet
August 6th, 2011 31 NATO troops, 20 of them Navy Seals from the Osama bin Laden operation died in what is reported as a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
The chances of this story being true is almost nil. The chances of this being a staged coverup is over 80%. We believe these people were murdered to silence them. This is why.
We have solid information on two areas:
- Osama bin Laden died in 2001 as an active CIA employee and his body was recovered in Afghanistan and taken to “the sand box.” We were told it was frozen. We have so much verification from this, CIA, ISI, US military and top officials. I have a direct confirmation from Bin Laden’s CIA handler who I grilled mercilessly on this.
- The Abbottabad operation involved numerous American deaths, witnessed, bodies all over, a helicopter crash. (suppressed translated TV interview below) These bodies were recovered by land vehicle from Islamabad and there was NO “successful” bin Laden operation of any kind. There was and has been a CIA safe house in Abbotabad where terror suspects were stored for years.
This gave the US several areas of severe vulnerability. Generally, Navy Seals are the best people in the world at keeping their mouths shut, these are real team players, as the term “Seal Team” belies.
We at VT were informed that the bin Laden operation was staged at this time, a theatrical farce, to cover the exit of Secretary Gates, the move by former CIA Director Leon Panetta into the DOD as Secretary of Defense and to stem any heroic claims by new CIA Director Petraeus of killing the long dead Osama bin Laden, the long frozen CIA operative.
Petraeus is a possible presidential contender and had to be denied this “gift from heaven,” a fast track to the oval office for sure.

Mr. BERMAN introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs
ANTIBOYCOTT PROVISIONS.
(a) Findings- The Congress finds that--
(1) the Arab League boycott of Israel, and the secondary boycott of United States firms that have commercial ties with Israel, are an impediment to investment, trade, economic development, and peace in the Middle East and North Africa;
(2) it is in the common interest of the people of Israel and the Arab states that the Arab League boycott be terminated, that the Central Office for the Boycott of Israel be closed, and that Arab League states normalize relations with their neighbor Israel; and
(3) the President, the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of Commerce should continue to vigorously oppose the Arab League boycott of Israel and use the authorities enacted into law by Congress to take concrete steps to seek an end to the Arab League boycott.
CRIMINAL PENALTY- A person who, with knowledge or intent, commits, attempts to commit, or conspires to commit, or aids or abets in the commission of, an unlawful act described in subsection (c) shall, upon conviction, be fined not more than $1,000,000, or, if a natural person, be imprisoned for not more than 20 years, or both.

Polisario ‘concerned’ over Morocco’s purchase of US F-16 fighters
Morocco’s acquisition of a first batch of 24 F-16 fighter jets from the United States has raised concerns form the Algeria-backed Polisario Front, but observers say Morocco’s move is part of an air force modernization program not designed to threaten neighbours.
Four F-16s were delivered to Morocco and another seven would be delivered at the beginning of 2012 and the remaining 13 in the following months, Major General Margaret Woodward of the US Air Force told reporters on Thursday in the southern city of Marrakesh, according to AFP.
The Benguerir air base north of Marrakesh took delivery of the aircrafts in a ceremony attended by senior officers of the Moroccan and US military, the MAP news agency reported.
The 24 F-16s, the CD block 50-52 model, were among the most modern versions available, Mr. Woodward said.
The contract with the United States, which includes the sale of equipment, services and pilot training, is worth an estimated $2.4 billion (1.7 billion euros).

Abu Ghraib Abuse Ringleader Set Free
The convicted ringleader of detainee abuses at Abu Ghraib was released Saturday from a military prison, an Army spokeswoman said. Charles Graner Jr., 42, was released from the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., around 10 a.m. Saturday after serving more than 6 1/2 years of a 10-year sentence, spokeswoman Rebecca Steed said. Graner will be under the supervision of a probation officer until Dec. 25, 2014, she said.
Graner was an Army Reserve corporal from Uniontown, Pa., when he and six other members of the Maryland-based 372nd Military Police Company were charged in 2004 with abusing detainees at the prison in Iraq. The strongest evidence was photographs of grinning U.S. soldiers posing beside naked detainees stacked in a pyramid or held on a leash.
Tottenham Burns
In London, UK, there were scenes of chaos in the early hours of Sunday morning as sustained looting spread from Tottenham to other nearby areas of Haringey. By midnight police managed to secure a 200-metre stretch of the Tottenham High Road, scene of some of the worst rioting on Saturday night. But as fire engines entered the street, and began putting out blazing cars and buildings, the rioters spread north and east through back-streets. To the north, at Tottenham Hale, Aldi supermarket was ransacked and set on fire. So too was a nearby carpet shop, causing a huge blaze.
Looters turned up with cars and shopping trolleys to carry away stolen goods. Nearby, large groups of youths congregated in the surrounding streets with sticks, bottles and hammers. Some wore balaclava masks, preventing cars from accessing streets as buildings were broken into. Others used large rubbish bins to form burning barricades across the road. However some of most dramatic looting took place further west, in Wood Green, and continued into the early hours of the morning. Earlier on Saturday night two police cars, a bus and several shops had been attacked and set ablaze as violence and looting erupted following a protest demanding "justice" over a fatal police shooting..

The United States has lost its sterling credit rating
The credit rating agency Standard & Poor's on Friday lowered the nation's AAA rating for the first time since granting it in 1917. The move came less than a week after a gridlocked Congress finally agreed to spending cuts that would reduce the debt by more than $2 trillion – a tumultuous process that contributed to convulsions in financial markets.
The promised cuts were not enough to satisfy S&P.The drop in the rating by one notch to AA-plus was telegraphed as a possibility back in April. The three main credit agencies, which also include Moody's Investor Service and Fitch, had warned during the budget fight that if Congress did not cut spending far enough, the country faced a downgrade. Moody's said it was keeping its AAA rating on the nation's debt, but that it might still lower it.
One of the biggest questions after the downgrade was what impact it would have on already nervous investors. While the downgrade was not a surprise, some selling is expected when stock trading resumes Monday morning. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 699 points this week, the biggest weekly point drop since October 2008.

Somalia famine has killed '29,000 children'
Claim by US officials follows declaration of three new famine zones by UN and warning that more areas are vulnerable. US officials say that the famine in Somalia has killed more than 29,000 children in the last 90 days.
Separately, the UN has declared that three new regions in Somalia are famine zones, making a total of five regions affected by famine thus far in the Horn of Africa country. The UN had said last month two regions were suffering from famine.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the UN's food arm, has said that famine is likely to spread across all regions of Somalia's south in the next four to six weeks.
Famine, as defined by the UN, refers to situations when at least 20 per cent of households face food shortages so severe that they are unable to cope with it and more than two people out of 10 000 people die daily. Additionally, famine conditions are likely to persist until December, FAO said. Across Somalia, 3.7 million people are in crisis out of a population of 7.5 million, the UN says.
The massive European network of Stone Age tunnels that weaves from Scotland to Turkey
Stone Age man created a massive network of underground tunnels criss-crossing Europe from Scotland to Turkey, a new book on the ancient superhighways has claimed.
German archaeologist Dr Heinrich Kusch said evidence of the tunnels has been found under hundreds of Neolithic settlements all over the continent. He claims the fact that so many have survived after 12,000 years shows that the original tunnel network must have been enormous.
Some experts believe the network was a way of protecting man from predators while others believe that some of the linked tunnels were used like motorways are today, for people to travel safely regardless of wars or violence or even weather above ground.
Chapels were often built by the entrances perhaps because the Church were afraid of the heathen legacy the tunnels might have represented, and wanted to negate their influence. In some cases writings have been discovered referring to the tunnels seen as a gateway to the underworld.

Former CIA official sees terrorism-cyber parallels
Different wars for different times. Cofer Black, a former top CIA counterterrorism official, said on Wednesday he sees parallels between the terrorism threat that emerged before the September 11 attacks a decade ago and the emerging cyber threat now.
The question of validation -- judging the severity of the threat and who is behind it -- is just as much an issue now as it was in the lead-up to the September 11 attacks, he told an audience of information security experts at the annual Black Hat conference. Black said he became very familiar with al Qaeda during his 28 years at CIA, including one assassination attempt against himself.
Swede arrested for building nuclear reactor in his kitchen
A Swedish man was arrested last month after authorities discovered that his effort to build a nuclear reactor in his kitchen had ended with a small meltdown. Richard Handl told The Associated Press Wednesday that he had obtained radium, americium and uranium, but the attempt split atoms had only been a hobby.
Most of the radioactive elements came from common items like smoke detectors and old clock hands, which were bought on eBay. He also purchased a Geiger counter from the U.S. by mail order.

Where do i being to discuss my shock at hearing Charlie Veitch saying that he doesn't believe 9/11 was an inside job. Charlie has defended his change by saying he was asked by the BBC to go to America and film for a program about 9/11 conspiracies and there he met "experts" who explained why it wasn't an inside job.
I am happy for anyone to believe anything within the truth movement i.e Ron Paul has said he doesn't think 9/11 was an inside job, however the way in which Charlie has changed his mind because of 10 days with the BBC doesn't sit right with me. What seems to sit even worse with me is the way in which he has decided all of his previous beliefs were wrong and has had began to attack the very people who have supported him. Charlie went to US with BBC and he really just changed his mind on 9/11 because there was so much “experts” who lied to him and he swallowed it all. Then same group who orchestrated this continued attacks to Charlie in YouTube and Facebook(there really was just couple people who spammed lots of comments and YouTube channel wall) and now this blog comes to Charlies blog.
Why writer wants to make big point that he is ANONYMOUS? Anyone who has readed news can see that some Anonymous hackers are very suspicious. And they have been saying in media that Anonymous are terrorist etc..
Keep in mind when thinking about this,
- In Britain they just started to treat anarchist as terrorist

Both satellites would have formed from debris that was ejected when a Mars-size protoplanet smacked into Earth late in its formation period. Whereas traditional theory states that the infant Moon rapidly swept up any rivals or gravitationally ejected them into interstellar space, the new theory suggests that one body survived, parked in a gravitationally stable point in the Earth–Moon system.
