8 US Right-wing Lunacies This Week
Marco Rubio will not rest until women all over the world no longer have the right to choose abortion. As president, he would see to it that women in other countries were just as oppressed and pregnant as the ones right here at home. He made this vow during a speech before the National Right to Life Committee’s annual convention in New Orleans on Friday. He even compared the fight against abortion rights to the fights to end slavery and for women’s suffrage.
This is some seriously messed up thinking, which Rubio nonetheless seems to fervently believe in. During his speech, Rubio called the historic Roe v. Wade decision “historically and egregiously flawed.” He did not explain that one, but with this crowd, he did not have to. He talked about how the current occupant of the White House has sought to expand women’s right to choose (and access to birth control), which is just awful. He hoped the crowd would help send him to the White House so he can reverse any progress that might have been made under said occcupant. Finally he commended the crowd for fighting the most important battle in the whole wide world: to deprive women of this measure of control over their reproductive life.

11 Most Absurd Lies Conservatives Are Using to Brainwash America's School Kids
If recent elections have taught us anything, it’s that young Americans have taken a decided turn to the left. Young voters delivered Obama the election: the under-44 set voted Obama and the over-45 set broke for Romney. The youngest voters, age 18-29, gave Obama a whopping 60% of their vote.
Now Republicans have a plan to try to recapture the youngest voters out there: Take over the curriculum in public schools, replace education with a bunch of conservative propaganda, and reap the benefits of having a new generation that can’t tell reality from right-wing fantasy.
Here’s a list of 11 lies American kids may be in danger of learning in school.
Lie #1: Racism has barely been an issue in U.S. history and slavery wasn’t that big a deal.
Lie #2: Joe McCarthy was right.
Lie #3: Climate change is a massive hoaxscientistshave perpetuated on the public.

No pregnancy from 'legitimate rape'
If there is something everyone can agree on, it would seem that the idea that rape can result in unwanted pregnancy would be right up there at the top of the list.
Not so in Missouri, where the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, Rep. Todd Akin, a tea party candidate, on Sunday advanced the theory that the female reproductive system shuts down when a woman is being raped, thus preventing conception.
"It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare,” Akin said, referring to conception following a rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume that maybe that didn't work or something, I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child."

Next US President Romney: "I'm Not Concerned With the Very Poor"
Oh, dear. Robot Romney's wires have malfunctioned again, jut when he should have been soaking up his win in Florida last night. Check out this unfortunate soundbite from a CNN interview this morning, in which the .006%er said he wasn't concerned about the very poor:
The Washington Post reports on the exchange: “I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there,” Romney told CNN. “If it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine.”
