In the early morning of 21st July, neo-nazi skinheads launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on a non-violent anti-nuclear protest camp in Angarsk, Siberia, Russia. The nazis violently attacked activists in their sleeping bags and tents with iron rods, knives and air pressure guns. 21 year old Ilya Borodaenko from Nakhodka suffered a head-fracture during the attack and later died in hospital from his injuries. At least nine others have been reported to be seriously injured, one of which has had both their legs broken. Tents were set on fire and several belongings were stolen.
The camp started last week and is aimed at protesting against a planned centre of uranium enrichment in Angarsk. Ever since the arrival of the activists, the police have tried to intimidate them and have entered the camp in an attempt to gather information about planned actions. The organisation who planned the camp, the 'Ecological Wave of Baikal', had planned various rallies in the surronding area to inform locals about the plans and drum up support for the campaign. Terrorism gives power...
to the Government...
One morning, Steve Kurtz woke up to find his wife lying dead beside him. He called 911, but when the emergency workers came to his home, they noticed his supposedly highly suspicious laboratory and reported its existence to the FBI. Steve Kurtz was subsequently arrested under suspicion of murdering his wife and manufacturing biological weapons. His house was searched and his laboratory, hard disk and cat were all confiscated.
It so happened to be that at the time, Steve Kurtz was researching biological warfare and bioterrorism and for this reason was in possession of many books on the subject as well as the three bacteria bacillus globigii, serratia marcenscens and e.coli. Bacillus globigii is used as a biological tracer for anthrax, because even though it is harmless, its particle size and dispersal characteristics are similar to those of anthrax. Serratia Marcenscens can grow on old bread kept in a damp place, and e.coli is a bacteria found in human intestinal flora.
It turned out that Steve Kurtz's wife died of a tragic heart failure, and the Food and Drug Administration stated that no dangerous agents were found in Steve Kurtz's house. But instead letting Steve Kurtz go after it was known that he was not posing a threat to society in the form of bioterrorism, the FBI charged him with mail fraud and wire fraud, with a possibility of up to 20 years in prision.

Will a Total Suppression of the Left Ultimately Ruin Our Planet?
... Will these fanatical haters of nearly all forms of socialization actually end up destroying the planet? Will a recklessly capitalistic Empire America ultimately make the planet unlivable through global warming? How about disaster via a spread of hitherto unknown, incurable tropical diseases as the planet warms? How about the right wing passion for making new weapons of war capable of wiping out massive populations? On a smaller scale, how about the clouds of depleted uranium poisons now drifting from the Middle East over England in a kind of ironic payback? Who knows what the guys are bottling nowadays at Fort Detrick, one of the most fearsome, feckless, and fanatical defenders of Empire America? Could there be a Dr. Strangelove walking the corridors of that immense factory of death? Will hatred of the left and all they stand for eventually lead to the flooding of major cities such as New York City, London, and so on, through global warming? Frankly, I don't like the looks of a future controlled by leaders of the same ilk as a Bush or a Blair or a Howard, and so forth

Ethiopia activists given life terms
More than 30 opposition members in Ethiopia have been given life sentences for their role in 2005 election protests.
Adil Ahmed, a high court judge, gave life terms to 34 of the 38 defendants, including Hailu Shawl and Bernahu Nega, two senior leaders of the Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD) party. Four other defendants received 18-year jail terms. Prosecutors last week had requested the death penalty.
Abraha Tetemke, the chief prosecutor, said: "According to the country's penal code, maximum punishment should be dealt to parties found guilty of plotting against the constitution." More on AL Jazeera
On Reporters sans frontières we learn: Former guerrilla Zenawi took power in 1991 promising democracy after the dark years of Mengistu Haile Mariam, but he at once set about intimidating the opposition and routinely jailing journalists.
The first multiparty elections in May 2005 raised hopes, but the vote was a fiasco and the opposition took to the streets to protest the result. The army cracked down and in November the government acted to crush what it said was an armed uprising. A dozen newspapers were closed and their editors thrown in prison along with opposition leaders. They were prosecuted for “high treason,” which carries the death penalty. Zenawi claimed he was maintaining public order in the face of subversion and that the opposition and its media were preaching “genocide” against his ethnic group. More

Mass Arrests over Prices in Zimbabwe
A total of 1,328 Zimbabwean businessmen and women have been arrested and fined for breaking official price controls in the past two weeks, police say.
The government ordered that the prices of many goods be cut in half, in order to tackle the world's highest rate of inflation - more than 3,700%.
But businesses say the new prices are below cost, so some firms have closed.
Zimbabwe's neighbours are trying to work on a plan to revive the economy - once one of Africa's most advanced.
A South African newspaper reported on Sunday that this could include pegging the Zimbabwe dollar to the South African rand but this has not been confirmed.

Resource Security in Iraq
Australian Defence Minister Brendan Nelson has admitted that securing oil supplies is a key factor behind the presence of Australian troops in Iraq.
He said maintaining "resource security" in the Middle East was a priority.
But PM John Howard has played down the comments, saying it was "stretching it a bit" to conclude that Australia's Iraq involvement was motivated by oil.
The remarks are causing heated debate as the US-led Iraq coalition has avoided linking the war and oil.

New Drug Deletes Bad Memories
Do you have a really bad memory, or past heartache, that you would prefer to forget?
Researchers at Harvard and McGill University (in Montreal) are working on an amnesia drug that blocks or deletes bad memories. The technique seems to allow psychiatrists to disrupt the biochemical pathways that allow a memory to be recalled.
The rats were trained to associate two musical tones with a mild electrical shock so that when they heard either of the tones they would brace themselves for a shock. The researchers then gave half the rats the drug when playing one of the musical tones.
After the treatment, the rats that had been given the drug no longer associated that particular tone with an imminent shock but still braced themselves upon hearing the second tone, demonstrating only one memory had been deleted.

BBC Reporter Alan Johnston is released in Gaza
BBC reporter Alan Johnston has said it is "just unimaginably good to be free" after 114 days in captivity in Gaza.
He said his ordeal felt like being "buried alive", and was "sometimes quite terrifying".
Mr Johnston, 45, was handed over to the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza City. Britain said the group had played a key role in his release.
The reporter said he had not been tortured by the Army of Islam group which seized him on 12 March.

Fear Mongering
The shameful display of fear mongering by the U.S. and British governments in response to a group of bizarre so-called terror plots has continued.
The government through its mouth pieces in the corporate controlled media has continued to spread propaganda stating that citizens need to give up their civil rights in exchange for security. The bungled terror plots and the insane over reaction to what were really non events could very well be the start of an entire summer of fear mongering and hysteria by both the government and associated media outlets. Bush Wipes Away Libby's Prison Sentence
Law in the US...
Just when things looked darkest for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, when prison seemed all but certain, President Bush wiped away the former White House aide's 2 1/2-year sentence in the CIA leak case.
Bush's move came Monday, just five hours after a federal appeals panel ruled that Libby could not delay his prison term. His prospects for an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court seemed bleak. The former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, Libby was just waiting for a date to surrender.
After months of sidestepping pardon questions, Bush stepped in.
"I respect the jury's verdict," Bush said in a statement. "But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby's sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison."

Hysteria Of Car "Bomb" Terror
London car bombs would not have killed anyone, government using terrorist tactics by hyping fear to morph society
Countering the frothing rabid hysteria that is being whipped up by a fervent media in response to three failed car "bomb" attacks in the last few days in the UK, ex-CIA agent Larry Johnson joined Keith Olbermann to underscore the truth behind the madness - that the so-called bombs were primitive at best and would not have killed anybody. Thanks to Paul Joseph Watson
